I found this out on ISP forum will this really increase my internet speed? If no how will this affect my PC?

    My Computer>Properties
    Hardware Tab>Device Manager

    Then go to Ports

    Communication Ports>Communication Ports Properties>Port Setting

Then change to 128000 and the flow control to "Hardware"

    TIA

    Hi

Dont think this will help with DSL type connections afaik and networking is not my strong point, but I have checked my dev manager and driver and settings and we dont use Com Ports anymore (nothing in Win7 on my PC for this), this is more the realm on DUN (dialup). I know a few of the network folks will correct me.

While Flow control is within the Network drivers settings it has nothing for hardware setting and TX RX is enabled by default and only other setting is disabled.

I just dont think there is any magical speedup trick as what service you pay for in say a 1mb/s DSL line is not magically going to become 2mb/s, yes you can in some respects fine tune the connection by updated network drivers, a less than aggressive or more tunes security app and having good wireing from the exchange to your house to your PC.

You could test it and see, but run 3 speed tests before and then 3 after and gain an average.

TCP Tweak could help with the fine tuning aspect, I dont use them now with DSL, did with DUN, as I find no visual difference in speeds. I find close placemement of router near phone socket and a good DSL filter + using CAT5e cables from router to PC better than using a phien extention cable.

You are better off. If you do some speed testing you will find little will improve your internet connection nowadays. ISPs can deliver whatever they want and it's really what your paying for that you get.

The tweek you posted is for a Com Port as in dial-up modem connection. If your using DSL, Cable or some other type of broadband, it won't do anything either good or bad to your computer.
