Hi everyone. I just tried "un-installing" comodo antivirus and now have a HUGE! problem.

I uninstalled comodo, using REVO un-installer and thought everything was fine, until i tried deleting the files left over in "Program Files" and using cedric collumbs "file unlocker" - i still could not get them off my system. Only when i went into SAFE mode, could i delete these files.

Re-starting my computer, i then found out i no longer HAVE the ability to download anthing and, even though i am the ADMINISTRATOR on my computer and the ONLY user - i no longer have "administrator" rights somehow.

I CANNOT even RE-INSTALL my windows software NOR can i ACCESS or use any Restore points because it is telling me i NEED ADMINISTRATOR rights; which i do have and i have tried creating another "standard" account and switching over, but nothing!! at all is working and i now have EXTREMELY limited use of my computer. Again, i cannot even download anything.

Can ANYONE help with info., suggestions, or websites that may have the answer?

    THANKS!!!:wave

    Hi

WHAT Windows version are you using (include Service Pack level if applicable)?

Can you run System Restore from Safe Mode?

    THANKS!!! for the help.

I am using Windows Vista home premium; and yes, i was having a problem with windows "updater" which, for some reason stopped working correctly. But i am not sure this would have "any" effect on trying to un-install the "comodo" anti-virus problem; especially because it would not even allow me to delete the Comodo files with a FILE UNLOCKER and that is why i posted.

I download all my extras and other programs ONLY from windows, majorgeeks OR CNET only. so i know that the products are same and therefore, my dilemma in what could have happened.

I have never had any other previous issues with using Cedric Collumbs file unlocker previously and even today, i have been using it successfully to delete my windows "DEFENDER" files; with the intent of seeing if this will allow me the ADMINISTRATOR rights that my system is "showing" me to have - BUT not allowing me to do anything with (cannot download, access ANY of my restore points, or re-install a clean windows OS, because they are all saying "i don't have/or need administrator rights!!):cry.

Extremely frustrating but i am going to try this, since it's a done deal anyway and i have used the file unlocker to delete windows defender and see if maybe the Comodo anti-virus locked up my "security" situation somehow.

I am only now finished doing this and am terrified to re-start my system, in case i may make things worse, but, then again, i am not allowed any other fix options at this point either.

Hope i explained myself okay and i am GRATEFUL for any help and advice. THANK YOU!:wave

p.s. SORRY!! forgot to say that there is no SP1 on my system because i had just done a clean OS re-install, and as i said - i was having trouble with the windows "udpate" this time and "update" was the reason i had done the re-install of the OS.

Also, yes, i am able to get into safe mode. Thanks for your help.

Also, meant to say that the "windows /majorgeeks/CNEt downloads are "SAFE"
