I have COMODO - Internet Security Version 6, 2, 282872, 2847 (64 bit) installed on my Hewlett-Packard s5770uk-m PC running under Windows 7 Home Premium (x64) Service Pack 1 (info in bold courtesy of Belarc Advisor).

COMODO is slowing my PC down at start up. Does anyone else experience this problem with COMODO? Considering its good reputation I'm wondering why their software is slowing me down. Is there anything folks can suggest to improve the situation?

I have Comodo Antivirus Free on one pc and have no problems, in fact I'm running very quick with it. Have you tried other AV software ??

You do not need Comodo. The Windows 7 firewall will work fine, and download Microsoft Security Essentials. As for it slowing down, what are you using to watch the processes while you are doing stuff?

How much RAM do you have on that system, what make & model of hard drive? How much space left on the Hard drive? What is Task Manager showing for CPU use while you are doing stuff?

What programs are you running at the time that you notice the slowdown? What kind of Internet do you have, and what is the speed of the package you are paying for?

You get what I am saying, there are just too many unanswered questions that could be the cause not Comodo for this slowdown.

Looking at the specs on this machine http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsuppor...t.jsp?objectID=c02675180&prodSeriesId=5035352 Personally if it is just the orig. Core Duo that came with it, I would pull it and put in the following: Core 2 Quad Q8xx0/Q9xx0 (Yorkfield core) (95W)

That machine is going on about five years, and most likely you are used to using a newer faster machine at work or elsewhere, and when you are using yours, you feel that it may be slow, but just needs some maintenance and finding out what besides Comodo is causing the slowdown.

The reason I suspect COMODO is because it seems to be the last thing to start up and it takes its time starting up and I can't get the PC to do anything until COMODO has decided to wake up and start work. Once things have started up I have no other issues with COMODO slowing things down.

I use Avast as my antimalware programme; I'm using Comodo as my firewall. A few people have said use Windows Firewall. I'm still stuck in the mode that for applications such as your firewall or your disk defragmenter you're probably better off using anything other than Windows' own in-built applications.

Defrag & Firewall got better with 7, even better with 8.

Seeing as CIS has an antivirus and Avast is an antivirus, I'd expect your PC to have conflict between the two. If you're happy with CIS, then uninstall Avast.

I was experiencing exactly the same thing with comodo and a clean re-install solved the problem.
I used the comodo uninstaller tool available from their forum here.

Plus have you turned OFF the virus scan at system start-up within the settings.?

Yes a clean install using ccleaner, the comodo uninstaller and regscanner solved the issue for me.

    Hope this helps you.:wave
