Running XP SP3, downloaded Comodo System Cleaner, and it says it can only be ran by Administrator, so I log on as Admin. and it says it needs an Admin. password. I don't have a password, so I tried to make one and I still get the same response. It can only run for Admin. ,, I am the computer Admin. that is how I listed in User Accounts. Any ideas ??

    Greetings, Nick T...

Not familiar with that particular program, but you might try:

    1. Re-downloading and re-installing the program in case there were problems with the download and/or installation.

    2. Right-clicking the installed .exe and then selecting 'Run as Administrator' to see if there is a change in symptoms.

Instead of using bloated Comodo, use Microsoft Security Essentials for Malware scanning, and if you do not roam off of your home network and behind a router, you can turn off the firewall on Vista.

I found too many problems with Comodo. Bloated, and tendency to change firewall settings at will.

Hey Caliban, I've tried the right click option and it still needs an Admin. password, but I don't have a password, and like I said, I made one but it still refuses to run. Thanks anyway.

Still trying to decide if this is a problem with the Comodo program or if you have deeper issues.

To verify: when you attempted to create an Administrator password was this successful? Have you tested this password in other ways (such as logging into Windows)?

Admin. password worded in Windows, but not Comodo.

Hey mjnc, Comodo support told me to enable Terminal Services, but I went to services and tried but there's no enable feature.

Is your version XP Home or XP Pro? As far as I know TS is only available with XP Pro. To enable TS right-click on My Computer -> Properties -> Remote -> check the 2nd box, reboot.

I'm leaning towards agreeing with brownizs, however: if you're having this many issues with a system cleaning solution then the end result may not be worth the time and trouble. I think the de facto files cleaner around here is probably CCleaner.

I agree too, thanks for all your help. See you around MGs.

On one last try, I went to Services, right clicked on Terminal Services, clicked Properties and changed Disabled to Manual and it worked. I just want to report this back in case anyone else encounters this problem. Thanks again.

    Hi Nick

Manual is the default setting for Windows XP SP3.

    Black Viper: Terminal Services
