Ok, my computer died, the motherboard ( Gateway). Its sad that it happened, but now i can finally get away from stock computer since now i have a reason to replace some stuff. I need a new case, motherboard, and PSU. So which ones do you recommend? If its at Newegg...all the better, but send me any. Well the mobo should be under $120. and the PSU should be about 300W. For a case...around $50 would be nice.

You can get a decent system for around $350.00 without the monitor and printer, but for the price you can get everything together for under $400.00 if needing something immediate.

Looking at TigerDirect, You can get a Barebones for around $250.00 with at least a 2.xghz processor. The big question is what are you going to be using it for (gaming, Internet browsing).

Are you keeping your existing CPU?? If so, what is it??
As the others say, it would be useful to know what you intend to use it for.

If you are just wanting a new computer, then some of the lower end OEM offering can be had for roughly the same price, possibly cheaper, than repairing yours, unless you know for shure that other components weren't damaged also! :)

I get a lot of stuff at Directron.com They have a huge selection, and unless your old PC is, well, VERY old you may be able to find a board that will support some of hardware you already have that may still be good.

Its a Gateway, with a 2.4Ghz Celeron..that i will have to keep for the moment seeing as how i don't have too much money to upgrade. Its strange, seeing as how it worked, i unplugged the computer, moved it, and then plugged it in again, and it was dead. The local repair shop says that its the mobo, and maybe the PSU too ( Hate pc shop, but didn't have an extra PSU to test with, so had to take it in :( ) It will be for basic stuff - music, word processing, minimum game playing, some sound editing, but it worked with my old config, so it should work with anything new. I have 512 MB RAM that should still work....but can't test it since my other desktops take SD RAM and not DDR. need any more info? o yeah, its just a little more than two years old, so its not that old. think it was baught in Oct. 2003? o well
