Comp Freezes When Opening Files

Today I tried to open up a folder on my desktop and my computer mostly froze. I could open it yesterday and all I did between days was turn off my computer. When i double-click any folder or my computer, my comp acts like its about to open it (loads), and my mouse gets the timer next to it and my comp sounds like its trying very hard to open the file. But a few seconds later it stops loading and runs normally with the exception that explorer is frozen. I can open any executable file that is on my desktop(.exe, .avi , .txt) and i can even get on the internet with no problem. If i bring out the task manager before i click on a folder i can still use the task manager with it suffering only a little bit of lag. I can also download stuff to my desktop without any problems. I can also use the run function and open up command prompt and browse around in that. I have yet to find any traces of viruses and i doubt i will since i have not downloaded anything recently.

It kinda feels like my computer goes to open the file but forgets what it was doing, then tries to remember what it was doing and then freezes. So i thought it might be a cashe/RAM problem but would i still be able to get on the internet were that the case?

    Any Ideas?

Wow C-Cleaner deleted around 9 GB of Temp esque stuff o_O

Anyways I cleared out the Temp files and broken .dll files in my registry with the program and now the files open again ^^

    Thanks alot!

Aww Crap the problem came back T_T
I retried C-Cleaner but the problem didn't go away this time.
I started my comp up in Safe Mode and i could open up files just fine and i compared the programs running in safe mode to my normal mode but the main difference is just system services.

Could any of the system services cause explorer to crash when trying to open files?

Also, I am currently running XP Pro SP2

I ran all of the scans from the link but they found nothing which makes be believe more firmly that this is a software issue and not a malware issue.

I deleted all the malware programs already so i assume their logs are gone too. However, I don't see how showing the log would help if it didn't find anything...wouldn't it just be blank then?
I am still convinced that some stupid system service is turned off/turned on that doesn't need to be.
I have looked around online and i have not found any solved similar problems and only 1 unsolved similar problem.
