OK so I just replaced my dvdrom drive with a cdrom drive, for various reasons.
So took out the dvd drive and put in the cdrom drive, wired it up as usual, checked the jumpers were correct and then tried to turn it on but nothing!

Tried the psu on another computer and it works fine. When it's turned on at the back the motherboard and ram lights are on, but the switch at the front won't turn on. When the psu has been off for about 10 seconds, I turn it back on and the case fans light up for a split second then go off.

    Any ideas, help??!!!

    Something is not seated properly!!

Is there a chance that somthing like the ram unknowingly got bumped in the process or maybe you might have bumped the graphics card or one of the pci cards and/or a wire (like the cpu fan monitor wire) got loose from the mobo!!

I would be 99.9% confident to say that something in the case is not attatched firmly!!

When I've run into that problem before, I tried just pushing on everything to make sure it was in good and that didn't do any good...I ended up taking out and reinserting everything (including any wires) one at a time, and viola...it was fine!!

P.S. Personally...I would say the first thing I would check is to see if the cpu fan is plugged into the mobo...if it is knocked loose...then it will give you the same symptoms as if the cpu fan is on backwards or not seated properly!! Which is the syptoms you are telling of, and since I'm assuming you didn't remove the cpu or cpu fan to replace the drive...then it only makes sense that you might have pulled that wire loose that i'm talking of!! Atleast on my board...that wire i'm talking of is plugged into the board up in the area you would be working to replace that drive!!

Thanks for the help dude, have checked everything, had it looked by my friend who is qualified etc and we've come to the conclusion that the motherboard is fried, so getting it replaced under warranty.
