Okay, I have an old custom built comp. Not too old really, but 2 ghz cpu, 120gb hdd, 512 ram, Sony DVD-RW 8x, Nvidia Geforce 5600 AGP... Well I was trying to upgrade my computer by swapping out Processors, my 2 for a 2.6, and the bios had some issues loading up the 2.6. Then I swapped back since I couldn't get the 2.6 to start up. I normally am pretty good at fixing computer hardware issues, and this problem I can normally fix by either leaving the computer alone for a couple days, but it didn't help. It's been three months, and still no luck. I've tried resetting the CMOS, removing all hardware and placing them back in one by one. I've even cleaned out the entire motherboard with some air-in-a-can. It starts up, doesn't make any beeping noises, all the lights light up and the fans work, but no video. I've tried other video cards I knew worked, but nothing helps. Should I get a new powerbox? Or is there something else that could be wrong

Dont make sense does it, one thought cross's my mind, have you checked the bottom of the cpu to be sure no bent pins? Did you move any jumpers on the m-board for the 2.6 then forget to move them back?

Comp set up is pretty much identical, no jumpers switched, and the cpu seems prestine... the internals could be fried... I'm thinking the bios might have thoguht the 2.6 was still in and burned it, but there is no ash, or any black marks...

Have you got the specs on your motherboard handy? the 2 gig, was it 400/512 and the 2.6 northy or prescott?

All I know about the motherboard is it is a Soyo SY-P4IS2 (or so it says), and that my CPU was a Intel Pentium 4, 2.0 ghz, 400something pin... can't read the information that easy, the top info came off when I took off the cooling block

The second 2.6 same deal, no info on the top anymore, just a Intel P4

Questions ..... can't tell from the photo of the board ...looks like it might have built in video port ...?
Plug monitor into that and then test/replace the cmos battery ....
We need to get at least a bios beep ....

You could try another power supply ...see if it works ....might have bent pins when swapping cpu ....sure the mobo didn't get grounded when putting in the cpu's?
