Comp stuck in Power Saving Mode

When I boot my computer up, the monitor reads Power Saving Mode. I've tried so many things to get it working again.

1. Tested the comp on different monitors, same deal.

2. Put a different graphics card in, played around with taking RAM out.

3. Tried a different VGA cable, tried DVI cable.

4. Unplugged the comp, monitor a hundred different ways.

5. Checked the CMOS battery (it's working)

6. Tested the PSU in another computer, worked fine.

I really can't pinpoint why or where this problem is. This comp has done this to me before (once every 5-6 months), to eventually fix itself in a couple days - but this might be it's longest off spree yet. Any help is much appreciated.

It's a Gateway 504GR and about 5-6 years old.

 

Check the connection from the PCI slot that the graphics card is in, to the motherboard.

 

The PCI slot is secure in the motherboard.

 

Well i just tested the problem comp on this monitor with a DVI cable instead of the VGA that I've been using. It seems DVI works perfectly, with the problem comp and i get power saving mode with VGA only. Which sucks, because the old monitor only supports vga.

 

Agree they can and do fail.
