I have an HP D1530 printer with an HP computer I just bought in Oct. (sorry don't know the model) It is running Vista 64 bit, and I just did a hard drive recovery. Now my printer won't work. I cannot get it to detect the printer being there. I installed the driver, and when I plug the usb in, I hear a bump noise from the comp indicating that it knows something just got plugged in, but will not detect new hardware. Any ideas?

Check the printers section to make sure it didn't show up. Make sure the printer is on. If that fails it may be neccessary to download the HP driver information and follow along with their on screen setup. It will tell you when to connect each part.

Call HP tech support. I've had two different people that had problems with HP printer detection. Both called. HP tech can remotely control your computer (you give them permission). You will see the mouse move and the tech will look through the printer files, remove what is corrupted and try to get the printer working.
