after switching out the power supply, the mother board, the processor, the RAM, and the video card my comp still won't turn on and everything is hooked up right. Could it be the case? like a wire might have fried or something.

P.S. - The motherboards green LED light is on when power goes through it

    I run a AMD 2800 with

    a Asus A7nex-x mobo

    Radeon 9600XT videocard

Aspire Case with stock power supply

Maxtor hardrive 7200 RPM and runs off of ATA

all parts above have been in use for 3 years with no prior problems. The problem arose when my dad invited the hillbilly side of my family to my house. I left for a camping trip and came back after they left. At first I could only get to the Asus boot agent before the windows logo came up and it would stop their asking for a system disk. But then it would refuse to even power on.

The main thing you have missed out as it said in the announcement is your operating system ;) Also could you explain this

    ;)

I used the same parts that my friend has since I built his comp exactely like mine and those weren't the problem. I use windows XP, not professional.

yes it can be the case,if you have installed too many brass standoffs and one is short circuiting the board,or your power and reset switches are jammed, simple fix remove all from case and boot on bench ;)

anyone else's thoughts on what might be wrong or how to fix it?

    Follow Rikky's advise.

    Could be short/grounded MOBO
May have nothing to do with Hillbillies, 3yr old system? Aspire's stock PSU mostlikely a cheapeee, check PSU.
Recheck All connections, does your rig have onboard speaker, any beep codes?

When all else fails or even before, as Rikky suggested =
Remove mobo from case, place on bench or mobo box, connect only CPU/RAM/Video card and ofcourse connect to PSU then see if you can post & boot to BIOS.

I don't think it's the mobo or the PSU since I have tried switching them out.

you have to post each of the steps you have taken,if you want to us to give you possible scenarios of what could be wrong it could be any peice of hardware in there ;)

as stated by asus you need are the mobo,1 stick of ram, psu, vid card, monitor and cpu plugged into each other, place it on an anti static bag ie. the one that came with your mobo,NO add on cards,NO harddrive, reset the cmos jumper, then bridge the 2 pins the power switch plugs into on the mobo with a flathead screwdriver for a split second or remove the power switch from the case and use just to power on and describe what happens.

check the atx 12v is plugged into the mobo
the vid card has power if it needs it
the ram is properly inserted, even if it looks as though it is pull it out and stick it in again hard, you should just be able to see the top of the brass pins on the ram

after this try another stick of ram,if your friend is real friend, see if he will let you put your parts into his computer one by one, when it dont boot no more theres your problem "although I wouldnt let any of my friends stick thier dodgy parts in my puter,or family :D seriously,I have a cheap comp for that"

what I think may of happened is you have had a part go on you "I think psu" and in swapping out the parts have forgot to plug something back in giving the same symptom ;)
