I did a search and couldn't find this. How do you compact your folders in Outlook? I love that it's on the menu in TB, but I can't find it in Outlook.

    Thanks for your help,
    Stephanie

    Assuming Outlook 2002 or later:

File menu->"data file management" (you will need to expand the whole menu to see this)->highlight your "personel folders", click settings, click "compact now".

This may take a while (on a really large file it could take hours), and has a (very low) potential for data loss, so it would be a good idea to make a backup of your PST files before doing this.

What Outlook Version are you using?

    For Outlook 2003/2002
How to Manually Start PST Compaction
    1. On the File menu, click Data File Management.
    2. Click to select your Personal Folder, and then click Settings.
    3. On the General tab, click Compact Now.
    4. Click OK, and then click Close.

Additionally, you can also check out these links:

Important Note: Gecks is correct - it would be a good idea to make a backup of your PST files before you compact your folders in Outlook - just in case something goes wrong during the process.

    Good Luck!
