Company of heroes Demo 1.8gig !

The new company of heroes demo is out,I never thought I'd see a demo top 1gig this year and this ones almost 2gigs

Anyone getting a little tired of WW2 shooters,I skipped call of duty 2 and brothers in arms but I think I'll give this one a whirl,,,when I finish downloading it tommorow

Thought it was asupposed to be a squad RTS? When you get please let me know. Saw the demo trailers and was hard to tell if it was a shooter or strategy. I was gonna DL it yesterday but thought d@m! that's huge.

 

Your right it does look like a real time strategy ,its the first I'v heard of the game and havnt read into it yet as I thought I'd post the link before I popped out

I'm not interested in real time strategy either,I'v stopped downloading it and started downloading FEAR multiplayer,sorry mate

Its 1.8 gigs for a game I probably wont even play,the server was currently maxing out at 39kbs even when segmented,do the math,it would finish downloading in the middle of tomorrow and I'm gonna play on Battlefield 2 now which would practically cut off the download

Ive got the demo and I love it. Im usually not a fan of squad-based RTS games, more like C&C, AOE, WC3 etc but this one is actually really fun. I was amazed; its definitely worth the DL.

check my specs in my sig; i can run it very well with almost maxed settings with a great framerate. If you run the in-game benchmark and get an almost acceptable score then actual game play should be fine. I think its quite a bit more stressful tan the game itself.

 

Cool! I just started the DL 2hrs ! 238 kb/sec. How does it compare to oither RTS games?

 

its...different but thats why i like it so much. It combines the stuff from typical squad-based RTS games like a good cover system, units come in groups rather than individually and also incorporates the good stuff from other types of RTS like building a base, creating units, managing resources as well as some new stuff like a destructible environment, capturing points that allow you to expand your base (gaining new territory). I just think its the best of both worlds here.

 

ARRRRRRRRRRRRGGGGGGGGG! I gotta quit asking questions. But cant help my self. 1h35m left. So building bases like C&C. What type of units are in it, armour,inf, arty, ect. How much play time do you get outta the demo?

Well worth the wait ! Gonna get hours of playing time outta this DEMO. The AI is pretty good, uses combinations of units to attack and doesnt rush attack, or just send unit after unit to attack. Just when the AI gets predictable it'll change tactics. I am still used to code name panzers controls, hopefully in the full version you can modify the hot keys. When a unit leaves a building you have to clic on the unit again to control it. Changing camera angles is difficult, and armour unit's speeds arn'e realistic. I do like the fact that when upgraded unit's die you can pic up their weapons. A regular infantry squad can pick up a heavy MG,Mortar, ect and that squad will be split 1 squad becomes the advanced weapons squad and the other reamains a regular infantry squad that will can be reinforced back upto a 6 man squad. Can't wait for a multiplayer DEMO that download will prolly be 2.8gb !
