compaq 17xl 360 no power to the lcd

    there are words on the screen but it is compleatly dark. I am not a novice, and I know its not the inverter, or the backlight. I think I shorted something out on the board, but I'm not sure if its the sub board that that lcd power connector is stuck on, or if it could be something else. Any ideas would be helpful, but nothing to the effect that compaqs suck, press the power button, etc.

    Not well up on the inner workings of laptops personally but did have this happen to one in work, the small microswitch thingy/do-hicky that alerts the laptop the screen is down was stuck down with a bit of plastic that had jammed it .. once laptop was taken apart and this removed the screen lit up again.


    hope this is better than the usual ... comcrap suck! ;)

    No good, I'm sure the board is cooked, I don't have touch pad control anymore, I'm going to get a new board off ebay. BtW I know Compaq's suck, I got this one to sell, I use my inspiron 1100 thats my baby, but if you ask a question on a board about a compaq usualy you get 6 replys with Compaq's suck and no useful information. Thanks for the help I will be using this board again.
