Step 2 - Take out expansion memory stick (this laptop has 64 mbytes internal memory or more)

Step 4 - Replace memory stick and windows will now boot correctly with no memory errors, I replaced my stick into the 2nd slot but im quite sure that it will work anyway even in the same slot.

Let me know if it worked for you please mate, but ive done it to 3 compaq armada m700's all with the same fault and they all worked fine.

Thanks for the description how you did it.
I'm having the same problem, but the with a Compaq Armada V300.
When I'm taking out the memory module under the keyboard, replacing the power, I immediately get a loud sound (beep - beep - beep!) and nothing is working!
The sound disappears when I take out het power-cord.
Reinstalling windows is not possible!
Can cou help me?

I don't know much about laptops but it could be a mo/bo issue (since it doesn't boot even when you remove the sticks). Can you get a friend's memory and see if it works?

I tried that already: either the beeping continues, or I get the same message.
That doesn't seem to work
