Compaq Bio problems

I have a Compaq Presario 3500+ the XP media Center Edition 2005 it's using the AMD athlon 64 processor and I get this error message "the instruction at "0x0180b477" referenced memory at 0x02d839a4. The memory could not be written. I get it most time right after a crash getting that screen where you report it to microsoft. It happens mostly when I try to cut and paste from one program to another.

I heard that Compaq presarios bios are wrong when running Windows XP. My computer is a few months old and I was never able to back it up because the CD drives are not meshing with HP drivers. I'm all comfused. I'm using the right CD.

Anybody had these problems with Compaq Presario. Any help will be appreciated.
