Compaq C700 display issue

I have this laptop and originally my issue was that the screen went white and had colorful lines on it so i bought a new LCD and that didnt help so i got a new inverter and still didnt help then i got a new motherboard and that didnt help so by a very expensive process of elimination i bought the LCD cable and that worked..... sorta the screen is on and running but after a few minutes it goes dark but you can still see the screen if youre under a light. if (and i know this is a bad idea) if i unplug the inverter and plug it back in on the side where the lcd cable goes in it lights backup for a little while thenthe same thing happens over and over. ive also tried function f4 already. did i just get a bad inverter or a bad cable or what please help im pulling my hair out and i dont have much left

 

Well given that you have replaced the LCD panel and the inverter, then the only other thing that could causing this problem is the lid switch. Working on the assumption that both the inverter and LCD backlight are working properly.

The LCD lid switch can be a mechanical switch ie lever, or magnetic ie a small magnet on the inside of the screen bezel and a magnetic switch adjacent on the laptop base usually on the power board.

The lid switch controls the power to the inverter. If the inverter fails to operate then the lcd backlight will not come on.
