    Hi guys,

I was hoping that someone can help me out on this. I have a Compaq KVM EO114 something or other 8-port KVM.

I had a password set on it, but I can't remember for the life of me what it is now. It was something simple and I do remember logging into it and what not, but I just can't remember it now, it's been a month since I last logged into it as well. It was packed away into storage.

I've tried ripping it open and pulling the main power cable from the board, but it doesn't seem to help... I only however let it sit for about a 1 minute or to. What I did notice that there were a bunch of jumpers on the board, I was thinking that someone might know which jumper to set to clear the NVRAM?

If anyone can help, it'd be appreciated.

P.S. I don't have a serial cable YET, but will be getting on, and trying through that to get setup.

    Thanks in advance,
    D

I did some quick searching, and I have found NOTHING about a KVM with the model number you provided: KVM EO114 This includes searching the HP/Compaq web site. Perhaps the number you provided is wrong? Maybe that's a zero and not the letter "O"? (I tried using a zero too and got no-where)... please double-check the model number and post it exactly as it appears on the device, and do not use "something or other" LOL We need exact info to be of assistance.

I have never heard of a Keyboard Video Monitor switch having a password. :confused Is it a KVM or a Router/Switch? It it is a router, you should be able to press the reset button on the back of it to restore it to default settings. Should reset the password as well.

    Hi guys,

    Model number is EO1004B

Yes it is a KVM, it's a Compaq 8-port KVM. It's got some sort of NVRAM somewhere on it that I'm trying to find some technical documents on. It's fairly old, from before the HP/Compaq merger.

I will try using the Serial Console connection to try and restore to factory settings, as it's only the Screen Saver password that has been set.

Next time if it works, I'll make sure to note it down.

Wow, sorry for my misunderstanding. I had never heard of such a thing, but google is a big help! :-D I blame it on the drugs I am on! (prescription of course.) I did not see any pictures of one, is that like a network KVM?

Well it doesn't have a NIC on it if that's what your talking about. But it can be expanded.. LOL.. As in you can daisy chain these KVM's to connect up ot 64 computers...

Picking up a Serial Cable tomorrow, hopefully I can figure out how to connect to this damn thing to reset it.

That is why I love this site so much! My KVM experience has been 2 or 3 computers. A 64 computer KVM... Now that is a Folding Farm!:-D

Thanks for the info dtakeshi! Always great to learn about stuff.

General NVRAM questions, now long does NVRAM last for without power? If I were to disconnect the main power feed into the board, how long do you guys think it'd take for it to wipe the NVRAM?

Non Volatile RAM. I don't think it will erase just from lack of power.

Dang it! I was hoping that it would, but I did a little research on it, maybe if I leave it disconnected for 10 years or so.. LOL.. Maybe I'll get somewhere.

Picking up a Serial Cable today, so will try again.

Hey dudes... Got my serial cable and got it plugged into my server and KVM, and I can just get a blinking cursor... Nothing else...

Anyone got any ideas? Or an Experts-Exchange.com account that doesn't mind helping?
