I have a Compaq Evo N800v laptop that will not boot-up. It runs Windows XP. The power indicator light comes on. The battery charge light was coming on (the battery is charged now so it is off.) There is no sound from the hard drive. We tried putting a CD rom in the drive, that came on, but nothing came up on the screen.

History- I left the computer on a couple of nights ago running on battery power only. I forgot about it and the battery ran down totally. That is when this problem started. I have tried removing the battery and putting it back in. I have tried hitting the sleep mode button. I have tried adjusting the screen brightness in case it was that. I have tried running it only on the battery. I have tried running it w/out the battery. I have tried plugging it in, unplugging, etc...

Thanks for any help you can give!

Does the laptop boot up enough so that you can enter the BIOS? On some laptops, there is usually a "reset" button on the bottom of it, near the battery or if you take the battery out you may see it. It would only be big enough for a paperclip to fit in. If you have one, hold it in for about 30 seconds with the power off, than try restarting again.

We can't find anything like that on our computer.
