A friend of mine has a compaq laptop, I don't have it in front of me yet, so i am not sure about the model. But when he turns it on, all he has is his desktop pic. I told him to ctrl-alt-delete, to start task manager, but when he did, it said task manager had been disabled by system admin. Also there is this box that says privacy group or something. I'm pretty sure it is something they DL'ed but, can anyone tell me how to get the destop back so I can start removing? Thanks

    Have you tried Safe Mode?

Thanks guys. I did finally get it to start into safe mode and done a system restore. I did run to tools in the guide, but after restarting a few times, it went back to no icons, no start, and task manager disabled. After another system restore, I used the reg. defrag. on Glary. And it seems to be ok. He hasn't had any other issues since. But after 2 years of misuse, he had severe Spyware issues, not to mention the Malware. Luckily for him, MG guide was once again useful.
