Compaq Laptop

    Hi! I've recently been given a Compaq Armada 1700 laptop which is unusable due to some Drive Lock feature. I guess it's to protect whatever is on it from boneheads like me. Anyway, I don't want any of whatever is on it, but it would be nice to reformat the drive and be able to use it. Does anybody have any info about it? BTW the Dell site says that without the password, the hard drive will be unusable and I may as well throw it out and buy a new one. Hopefully somebody here has a better idea. Thanks!
