Compaq notebook beeping on power on cycle

Nothing on the screen ahead, you might want to watch it carefully. Sometimes this can be a dead battery from the bios, a malfunctioning keyboard or mouse, for example. Problem is the Compaq screen hides these messages. You need to get into the bios by tapping the write key before the Compaq screen appears. Heres where it is tricky, not sure which key. On a Compaq, peobably f10 f11 or f12, but possibly f2 or delete. Once in, look for an option to disable the splash screen. This will allow you to see whats behind the Compaq screen and possibly get us an error message.
