compaq presario network

Help!! I have the presario cq57-339wm. I installed a router Thursday nighttime and this laptop won't Connect anymore with Ethernet cord nor wirelessly. It was saying connected to network but no internet access...now I got it to have internet access.. but it 'cannot display webpage' when. I open explorer. I have another laptop that is connected ..so I know it is a software issue or firewall issue with this Compaq. I saw suggestions to update server..but how do I get that software if I cannot connect to the internet. To download??? Please let me know how to fix this. Thanks!!!

 

What operating system are you running on the Compaq?
What is the make and model of the router?

 

I am using windows 7 and the router I hooked up is one I had bought a couple years ago but pulled out of storage .Linksys .Cisco wrt120n ..I first called charter for their help...and we discovered internet is working fine...that it was probably my network interface card problem...then I called tech support for Linksys and they said its my software...the wireless and Ethernet both worked until I hooked up and installed the router...coincidence ...I don't know. thanks!

Anyone have any ideas for me? Firewall? I'm sure its something simple..I just can't figure it out.:-o

 

Please do the following, Click The start orb, then into the box type cmd, then hit ok. DOS Prompt should pop up, then type ipconfig /all and post a screenshot of the info that appears.

 

I went in and made my computer go back to the way it was in January.. and undid all installs and updates since then. after that i restarted.. and it said i was connected... and i was because it installed windows updates and all that.. after that finished i restarted and explorer is now working.. i think i'll go update drivers now that i can get online like i saw in a previous post on this site. thanks for your help.. i'll let you know if is goofy again
