I have a Compaq presario s3000nx. It has everything stock exept for memory. I just started looking at the heat. I have noticed the room getting hotter and went to my bios. I let the computer sit at the bios for about 15 minutes. It went all the way from 35 degrees celcius boot temperature to 54 degrees celcius. I was wondering if Artic Silver 5 would help this. If so will I see a noticible temperature drop. I would like to get the computer cool. I mainly use it for internet. It has two fans in it. One stock heatsink fan which i think is like 40 mm and a case fan thats some wierd size not sure. The heatsink fan runs at 1850rpm max. The case fan 950~1050rpm. Can i use my fan mate from my zalman heatsink and boost up the speed then take it off and put it back on my comp or do u have to leave it on there. I really need to cool this computer down. Any suggestions greatly aprreciated.

Spray all the dust and dust bunnies outta the inside with a con of compressed air.

You may want to replace the CPU heatsink and put arctic silver 5 on it... A good one like the Thermaltake XP90 or something from Zalman ought to do the job.
