    Hello,

Before I ask my question here are my specs:

    AMD AthlonXP 3000+
    1 gig DDR Ram
    GeForce Ti 4800SE 128 DDR
    80 gig HD
    Soundblaster PCI 128
    Win XP Home

Ok I think that's it, now I have at the moment a 17inch Monitor and next week am getting a new TV, which is a Sony HR2S LCD Flatscreen, Widescreen, sadly I do not know anymore about the set, but am hoping if someone can tell me if my graphics card would be able to handle this setup, I am seriously hoping it can as I currently have problems with my setup, I won't go into that as its not that bad, suffice to say that the possible setup with the TV would cure it.

The chap that built my PC does not know for certain if this can be done and would be ok without getting banding as he called it, I am not technically minded and really would appreciate it if someone who is knowledgeable in this area could tell me if this is fine to do or not.

I do have a technician coming next week to try it out for me, but I don't know if he would know about PC's, as he is a TV techician.

I hope I have provided enough info, if not I do apologise, but like I say I am not able to give anymore as I really find this all so confusing.

One thing I do know is that the chap who built my PC did say that he would'nt advise playing games on a TV, but this set is an LCD set, not an ordinary one.

My graphics card on the box say's the following:

    DVI to VGA connector

    9 Pin to TV-Out/Video-In connector

    Also say's:

    G4Ti4800SE-8x, AGP8X, 128M DDR, DVI-I,
    9-TV_Out, 9-Video_In with DVI-VGA adapter,
    SS, 9-SSCC cable

I really hope one of you clever chaps here can assist me :)

    Many thanks in advance

    Uniquemind37 :)

Yep, you can plug your TV into your graphics card, provided the TV has an S-Video in on it, or you have a S-Video to SCART or component cable convertor.

I wouldn't use it as my primary monitor. Even with LCD, you wouldn't get the same crisp picture you would get with a normal VGA/DVI computer monitor.

Ah I see, ok thanks for that, I am disappointed that it would'nt be as good as the Monitor, as it would have solved an annoying problem I have with my speakers right now, but I guess I'll just keep it as a TV set instead, afterall that's what it is primarily :)

    Many thanks

Eh, how does a monitor effect your speakers?

Well I get interference coming through the speakers from lights going on in the house and Taxis going by outside, sends the speakers wild with humming and crackling noises, and my thought was that with the TV instead of the Monitor I would'nt get that as the TV has built in speakers as opposed to the ones either side of my Monitor.............sorry if the sounds odd, but I am lost too! lol just thought the TV setup would stop that, the guy in the electrical shop thought it would to.

Hmm, strange stuff. I guess it might do, the power supply to the speakers in a TV is conditioned.... so it probably would.

Yes it is odd that, and seeing as no-one here knows of how to stop it or why it happens, I thought the TV setup sounded great, but if as you say the picture quality would'nt be as good then I am in two minds, what a shame :(

Guess I'll need to make do with the crackling speakers! :(

Always the same nothing is ever straightforward :)
