Just to double check, these are compatible right?

Having thought a bit more you may want to consider a 9 series chipset if this is new build. That will work with with the new Bulldozer chips and is backward compatible... or hold out a couple of weeks for a BD chip

What the crap!? 8-core! I literally just bought the motherboard that is compatable with my 6-core! Well I'm sure this will be good enough, to get the 8-core would involve getting a whole new mobo, which in turn means I'm just going to build anther computer. Project for next year "Build an even more super computer lol

 

It will be fine but I wasn't sure over the context of your post. I didnt know if you were looking to buy a board, a chip or both. What you have purchased will last a long time. I am running an Athlon x2... only two cores and it still plays most new games. If you allready have the kit I wouldnt loose any sleep over it.

 

Haha thanks I knew it would last a long time, I also knew that with how fast technology is moving these days by the time I bought my board etc something grand and new was bound to come out.
