Compatibility mode paging reduces overall system performance

And Drive C: is using ms-dos compatibility mode file system.

Its a fresh install of win 98 where do I start.
I did a search here and in help within windows and can't find out what I need to do. I know it's a driver issue but there is where I'm stuck.

 

did you get the latest chipset drivers for your motherboard?

 

It's a new motherboard and the disk had updates that came with it. They are installed. The disk also had an update option through the web and I ran it, there are no updates available.

 

Oh one other thing that may or may not be part of the problem. The computer will not shut down by itself.

as for not shutting down, make sure you have ACPI enabled in the BIOS.

The miniscule ACPI support 98 has doesn't control shutting down the OS.

...does it?

 

Things I've done to no avail: reloaded windows, deleted hard drive from system: windows found it again reloaded it and nothing different. Oh, the hard drive is listed twice in device manager. When I deleted it totally windows loaded it twice again.
Went through the link above and did or checked out what I was able to, some of it had me confused before I even started.
Any other ideas??????

This is a good place to see if a reboot did any good fffffffffffff mmmmmmmmmmmmmm ddddddddddd I guess so
