Compatibility?

I'm trying to buy some hardware for my computer, including this and this. How can I tell if it's compatible with my computer?

 

If a commercially built system, what is the make and model number of your computer?

If a custom build, what is the exact model of the motherboard?

 

It's commercially built, but where might I find that information? I know it is an HP pavilion dual-core processor.

 

It should be on a sticker on the back of the PC.

 

OK, here's what the sticker says:

HW BOM: 05/1211 SW BOM: NA92

If it is the Pavilion 700 that I found, what you have selected and linked will not work.
The 700 I found takes PC133 memory.

What it looks like.

 

Right-click on the My Computer icon and select Properties from the menu that pops up. That will have info about the PC. If it is a Pavilion 700, it does not have a dual core CPU and I don't need to repeat what hrlow2 said about your upgrade choices.

is all it says under system properties, along with the current amount of RAM I have.

 

As hrlow2 wrote, that stuff you picked won't work. You may not even have a graphics expansion slot for a video card at all.

 

wait a sec... I see on the front, there's something at the bottom that reads hp pavilion 734n. There is a pace for the graphics card, and I was wondering if this number makes any difference.

No, that card requires at least a PCI Express 1.0 slot, 2.0 slot for maximum performance.

 

well... then could someone recommend a graphics card and a 1GB of ram that can be installed to my computer?

These will boost the performance of your PC, but it's relative. Don't plan on playing MOH or Black Ops.

 

You think that it would be able to handle WoW on minimal settings? I personally don't care about the graphics, as long as it can run.

I know the gig of ram would be alright, that's what it says in the system requirements.... but the graphics card, I'm not so sure (looking at this one)
