Hi all. I'd really appreciate some help on this topic.

I've recently purchased an acer aspire 5515. here's the specs.

1.6 GHZ AMD Athlon 64 bit
    3GB DDR2 RAM 667 MHZ FSB

I want to know if I can change out the processor for a
AMD II X2 240e. It's a 45w processor, and I've read reviews that 45w is perfect for this laptop and causes no thermal problems. My question is whether it will have any malfunctions or anything I need to know about.

The AMD II X2 240e is an Am3 chip. Your laptop has an AM2 socket. This MIGHT work properly, and I must stress the MIGHT.

Personally, for the amount of effort involved, along with the fact that there is only a chance that it will work would lead me to suggest that you don't waste your time or money.

    Sorry!

Well, I'd really like something with more processor power. the 2650e is just not doing it. any ideas for a compatible processor that is AM2 socket and is low wattage, preferably around 45 watts?
