I've recently been learning C/C++ and have been having no luck with my compilers. First, I tried Borland C++ and when I compile my code and run, it gives me this error:
Debugger Kernel BORDBK51.DLL is missing or not registered.
This is confusing because I have the debugger and I have registered. After that, I decided to use Dev-C++ 4, but when I try to install it it gives me an image of a white X in a red circle and aborts the installation. After that, I tried the Dev-C++ 5 beta, but it always tells me that my code has a mistake. This is irritating because I'm using very short practice codes that are given in the tutorials I'm taking. These codes are supposed to be correct, but my compiler thinks otherwise! What am I doing wrong?!

    Try GCC Gnu Compiler http://gcc.gnu.org/

Its free and it hasn't failed me. The installation part can be kind of confusing but you will get it.
