Compiling to run on different computers

I have a program written in C++ using the OpenGL libraries in Visual Studio. It runs fine on my Windows XP SP3 desktop. However, when I move the executable to my Windows XP laptop, my sister's Vista laptop, or my cousin's Windows desktop, I get an error when I try to run the program. It says:
"This application has failed to start because the application configuration is incorrect. Reinstalling the application may fix this problem."
At least, that's what it says on my laptop. and the owners of the other two computers claim it doesn't work on theirs either.
Does anyone know if I'm supposed to use some sort of switch or directive when I compile?

I'm glad I have several different compilers. Thanks for the advice, I didn't think of trying "redistribute" in google!
