Hey guys, firstly I would like to apologise if I am posting this in the wrong place or if none of you can help me at all, it is just that I am getting desperate and it seems there are so many clued up people that use this forum that maybe one of you will be able to help!

Basically, I have a few exam questions to answer over the summer to complete my degree course, as I was unable to do so in term time due to illness. I thought I had got all the notes but I can find nothing about the following question, I have tried to search the net for help but don't really know what I am looking for so any information at all would be very useful.

    The question is:
    a. The following are the pixel values of sections through an image:
    i. 3 3 3 3 4 4 4 4
    ii. 3 3 3 4 3 3 3
    iii. 3 3 3 4 5 6 6 6

    For each of these:
-Name the type of the section
-Plot it as a continuous line
-Apply the operator [-1]2]-1] (*those numbers are in a box split into 3*)
-Draw the output as a continuous line
-identify any zero-crossing or amplification effect.

    b. For i. ii. and iii. above, apply the operator [0.25]0.5]0.25]
Plot the output as a continuous line. What is the general effect of this operator?

    c. This operator [-1]2]-1]
is a simplification of the DoG operator. Explain this statement and describe how DoGs are derived.

    d. Describe the paradox of existence versus position for edge detection using DoG operators.

Any help with any of this question would be really really appreciated.
    Thank you in advance
