Well, I just sold my old computer and well I have a couple of documents, pictures, music, and videos on my computer that I surley don't want anyone to recover because they are mine....Well to make this story short, can anyone recomend a good program to delete all my information out of my computer? It would be great if it was free or atleast a free trial. I am only going to do this once so I don't want to spend some cash if you know what I mean....

    thakyou in advance

best way is to reformat writing al 0s. you can do it with pretty much any disk formatting utility.

if you need to ask that question, you probably shouldent be writing zeros, which could potentionally damage your HD if you do it wrong. thats ok though, theres allways another way. check the MG disk utility section for programs.

Try Eraser its either free or it cost me 5 bucks - can't remember which but it works beautifully
Eraser http://www.heidi.ie/eraser/ permanently erases a file so that sticky beaks cannot recover it. A deleted file stays on the hard drive until it is overwritten at some future stage. Eraser fixes this and more.
    Cheers

Foogoo, I never heard of DBAN. So I made an ISO and booted from CD. Since I had to wipe an old laptop's HD anyway, I tested DBAN, which worked great. So thanks for recommending it.

One small step closer to computer zen.
