Hello, I have checked out a few threads here, but none seem to be my particular problem.

So yes, my computer doesnt turn on, but its a bit different than others.

First of all, I have an HP laptop. I press the power button, the light turns on, and it starts making the noise that it always did when it was turning on (about 2 buzzing sounds), after those 2 the screen would turn on and it would start. However, a few days ago, the buzzing sounds kept repeating itself, and the screen doesnt "wake up" or turn on. The power light is ok, and the buzzing sounds basically can keep repeating itself until it runs out of battery. The computer struggles to load something, I mean it doesnt turn off.. If I wouldnt cut the power cable, the buzzing sounds wouldnt go down, and the computer wouldnt shut down, it could keep starting up forever.

Any suggestions on what this could be?

Those were probably beep codes, trying to tell you about a problem.

If it was a buzz rather than a beep then it could be a fan problem. When the computer makes noise, it is time to get help before a bigger problem is created.

If the laptop was overheating (buzzing by a fan going too fast) and you now have no display, the video chip could have burned out.

Do you mean the light on the power button?

Do you ever see anything on the screen?

I cant get to startup, as I said, my screen doesnt turn on and it just keeps being black as if it was turned off, so theres no way I can check out anything.

Secondly, the sound that it makes, I think is normal. I mean, the buzzing sound isn't intense or anything, however the sound may be bad news, but ever since I used the computer, I remember it making the sound always when it started up, it isnt just this one time (Im pretty sure all pc's make some sound when they start up) and the sound would dissapear after my screen would turn on and everything would boot up normally, but this time the sound just keeps repeating, noting that the pc is struggling to turn on, I dont think that the sound is coming from a burned chip or whatever.

Yes, I have tried hitting F8, and did that multiple times, no effect whatsoever.

Also, what I noticed is that the first few seconds it also makes one more sound, the sound comes from the far right of the computer, in which is the CD-disk and maybe the cpu, I really dont know what is located there, but the sound comes from the right of the computer. After that one time, the sound dissapears, and the other, the "struggling to turn on" sound keeps repeating.

Did you perhaps leave a disc in the CD drive?

No, there's no possibility a disk is still in the cd drive, I havent used one in quite a while. But the sound is coming from a place thats near the disk drive, so maybe anyone of you know if a CPU or a motherboard is in that place in a laptop, however I have no idea which part is located on the right of the pc..

A CPU or Motherboard doesn't make the noises you described. Neither does RAM, Sound Card, Graphics Card, LAN Card or PSU. It's in or probability the HDD.

Also, I suspect the video chip is dead because you never see a thing on the screen.
If it was the hard drive, you'd see white on a black screen "no bootable devices".

Have you tried entering the BIOS set up screen, I think it's repeated tapping of F2 on HP's when you on, This is about the simplest thing you can do, it doesn't need to access the HDD, and it will tell you if your basic video system is working.

I'll try entering BIOS in the morning, however Im pretty sure it wont work, but Ill still try it.

It also may as well be the video card that is dead, cause the screen doesnt turn on at all.

Also, if this helps, before the pc crash, I didn't shut down my pc, I turned it to hibernate mode (I usually do that), and then when I opened it and pressed the power button, the crash happened.

I would have thought if the problem were with your video system electronics, eg chip failure, graphics card u/s, you should have heard clear beeps on trying to boot (BIOS test). If it were a bad connection near the video output that would not display the same features, eg a loose wire on the output connector or something like that. I don't know what the characteristics of a disconnect in the cable to the screen, or of a problem with the screen inverter, the latter might make a buzzing sound, but you say the sound is coming from the front right - my HP laptop has the optical disk player thereabouts

When you tested your monitor did you use the same computer to VDU lead as well as testing the monitor ?

I have never heard (of) a buzzing sound. this sounds like something mechanical to me, as suggested, a fan, disk or CD/motor. If nothing else works test the disk on another computer, or try booting into Linux from a CD or USB or even into DOS from a bootable CD; make a bootable CD with your os and try that.

(you may be able tell I am running out ideas now !)
