Computer Auto Reboot on Startup

A couple of weeks ago, I gave my old PC to a family friend because their son was looking for a computer. Yesterday, he called me and told me that their computer started rebooting itself (without BSOD) as soon as the computer started up. I went over to his house to take a look at it, and every time the desktop wallpaper loaded, the computer would proceed to restart itself after a few seconds.

I was able to get into safe mode without this problem occurring, and I did a few scans with AdAware and SpyBot. They detected a few problems which I cleaned, but it didn't fix the problem. I don't have any logs as I'm not sure what I should attach, but any help on this problem would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

 

It could be a Fake reboot. (it's not actually rebooting, it's just an image playing over and over)

try SUPERAnti-Spyware and scan in safe mode, see what happens.

Edit, Also, do you have a lot of start up programs? ddi you trying just doing a MSconfig?

 

Is it possible to install superanti-spyware in safe mode?? Because I wouldn't be able to do anything in normal mode... And no there aren't a lot of start-up programs. I did close to a clean format for him before I gave him the computer. I only kept the anti-virus and anti-spyware programs on the computer...

 

Right-click My computer>Properties>Advanced tab>Startup and Recovery and uncheck Automatically Restart.

Do you get an error message in normal mode?

 

Thanks for the suggestion. I will get back to you on that because I still need to go over to his house to try that out before I can give any more information for you guys to work with.
