My wife works a internet job from home, she loggs into a server over the net and the can access links to webpages used to place orders etc. on one of the webpages it has several dropdowns, all work fine except one. she can click on the dropdown, but when selecting and clicking on any of the choices the computer beeps(from case not speakers) and the current pages freezes. by opening task manager you can un freeze the page (this program has stoped responding)

there are several other people on her team that have no problem with there systems and it works fine on our laptop(all settings are the same)

I was thinking it was there problem, but now after it works fine on the laptop think it is something with IE.

any help would be great !!!

    HI

Tends to be a browser add-on that can cause this, so try IE in its No-Addons version, this is found by clicking Start > All Programs > Accessories > System Tools

and see if IE works ok, if it does then its a addon causing this, so start IE normally and click Tools > Manage Addons > Enable or Disable and disable all addons then restart IE and if Ok then enable one at a time until you find the cluprit and post its name here, but you can disable the cluprit and IE should work ok until we find what we need to update or delete to remove this.

Malware is another cause, so scan the PC and if anything is found we have a Guide to follow, but will cross that if anything is found.

    Hi,
I tried it without the add-ons and no luck, you access the link once logged on to a server, but also tried accessing the link not signed on to the server and same results.

I think it is caused buy a popup/prompt that comes up when item is selected from the drop down. By clicking Ctrl,Alt,Delete 3 times it will unfreeze the popup and start responding again. All pop blockers are off.

    firewall maybe ?

Just wierd the laptop is setup just like the desktop and it works fine.

Any malware software you recomend I use several.

    thanks for helping
