Computer boots to black screen.

Ok. So I was playing The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion today and I run quite a few mods so it freezes up from time to time and it froze like which the solution is to just restart my computer. Well I just killed the power and went to eat dinner. When I got back I turned on the computer and it went through all the normal booting procedures but just when it should show the normal desktop it shows a totally black screen with no mouse yet I can boot into safe mode with no problem. No idea what's wrong.

 

Since you have no problem logging in Safe mode, try the System Restore from there to an earlier point. Imo the most probable thing to have happened is that Windows files were damaged when you instantly killed the power (you should try to avoid that, it's kind of risky).
