In March this strated happening but went away, now its back around Oct. 1, 2009. Went through your recommended cleaning procedure, but the Super Antispyware would not work, tried your recommendations on this, still no success. So continued with the others. Logs are attached. When watching Super Antispyware work, 2 Adwares showed up, then shortly after the computer crashed, this happened on all attemps. Oddly these 2 Adwares did not seem to show up in the other programs. Thought maybe running the Super Antispyware and pausing the scan after these show up, but didn't do it.

When I was looking for the logs I accidently clicked on the Super Antispyware and the computer crashed.

    Hello, LDSR

*You currently have no anti-virus or third-party firewall installed - I will give instructions when to correct this.

I strongly recommend that you clean up this account's Desktop immediately leaving only links.[ C:\Documents and Settings\Owner.New-computer\Desktop ] Do not store downloads, exe files, iso files....etc on your Desktop. First it is not a safe place to keep them (i.e., you may loose them due to malware, and a cluttered Desktop is an easy hiding place for malware), and last but not least it can have an effect on your PCs performance.

    Step 1:
Please look in Add/Remove Programs for the following and uninstall if found. If you get any errors just make a note and continue on.
    Step 2:
Run this Disable/Remove Windows Messenger to remove Windows Messenger. Do not confuse Windows Messenger with MSN Messenger because they are not the same. Windows Messenger is a frequent cause of popups

    Step 3:
To remove left-overs from McAfee, run the below tool / re-boot / then run it again.
    McAfee Consumer Product Removal Tool

    Step 4:
Next, try running the below online scan:

    http://www.superantispyware.com/onlinescan.html

Reboot immediately after scanning if it finds and removes anything. Let me know if anything was found. See if you can save a log with it.

    Step 5:
Now - refer to the following link for anti-virus and firewall suggestions. * Install one of each of these applications immediately.

How to Protect yourself from malware!

    Step 6:
Then run the C:\MGtools\GetLogs.bat file by double clicking on it (Note: if using Vista, use right click and select Run As Administrator).

Please attach the below logs to your next reply:
    • C:\MGlogs.zip
    • SAS onlinescan log

Make sure you tell me if you had any problems running this procedure and give a description of how things are working now!
