There's nothing like a good solid build project to bring your world crashing down again, and add a few more frustration wrinkles to an already ageing face.
I have just completed a long awaited project based around an asus A8V deluxe mobo (socket 939) with an AMD Athlon 64 3000+.
Not being a high end gamer, i included an ATI Radeon 9250 AGP 8x 128mb DDR to take care of the graphics.
Upon first time Power-up, everything seemed beautiful. One nice beep from the CPU, no series of problem indicating beeps, all lights bells and whistles firing, fans all operating and hard drives spinning up nicely(no strange noises to be heard) but no video? No dos BIOS screen for either card or mobo, just a 'no signal' window?
Naturally i checked all the basics, (monitor etc, all is working well when interchanged to my other system).
Fearing it may be a voltage issue, i went searching for any relevant jumper settings but there are none on the card or any that are video related on the mobo.
All the A8V user guide says is 'Install only 1.5v AGP cards on this mobo! 3.3v cards are not supported.
The gold 'slot' fingers on the 9250 seem to be keyed for 1.5v as far as i can tell, but there are no voltage specs to be found anywhere on the box or the instruction booklet, so i cant be sure!(i am graphics card illiterate though)
I have done everything i can think of, to no avail!

    Any clues guys?

    Could this be my problem?

Since the mobo was purchased second hand (pulled from a working system),
would it be neccessary to clear the RTC ram in CMOS in the light that the BIOS is configured for alternate set up parameters with regards to video display?

the most likely problem i can think of is that it has an integrated graphics processor and that as you said the bios is prolly configed to use it as primary try hooking your monitor to it and see if you get anything. if so youll have to run software graphics till you can get all the neccesarry drivers installed

Are you using the same memory that you used before? Do you know that it is good? There is a chance that your ram is not compatable with that board. ed

I purchased new modules for the build and thought that i did my homework in the compatibility area....however asus comp. can be hard to determine sometimes and im starting to think that you may be on the money here!!!

    Thanks ed
