The clock display on the bottom toolbar (microsoft xp) runs slow. It loses time everyday. Everyday I have to resynchronize it by going to date and time properties>internet time. It's set to automatically synchronize with the internet but apparently either it's not doing it or the clock runs so slow that within a few hours it's substantially off again. I can't tell you how many times I have been working on the computer, forgetting the clock most likely is wrong and realizing it after I'm late for an appt. or to pick-up my kids. I should just get a clock by the computer but it would be nice if I could figure out how to correct the inaccuracy of the computer clock. Any ideas?

Your CMOS battery on the motherboard is failing.

Replace the battery (which is a flat silver disc, similar to a watch battery) and this should solve your problem!

    (Insomniac, where are you?)

You can force an update to your clock every hour if you want to. You can do the maths, though.

As mentioned in earlier posts, it is probably your battery on its way out, but the above link will allow you to check your time more regularly than M$ once a week.

Also I still recommend Neutron as mentioned in that link.
I simply use that program once a week or so. It is small and fast and works well. Bazza
