I have no idea what the problem is so this may be in the wrong section.

I was on the internet 2 days ago, the bowser froze as did the pc. So i turned it off and when I tried to turn it back on the monitor would not turn on.

A message came up saying "Check power", I replugged all the cords and it still would not work. So I plugged the monitor cord into another "socket" that it fit(a secondary monitor socket?) and it turned on to the screen where it asks

Do You want to start normally

Do you want to start with last successful settings

    etc...

No matter what option I click, it goes to a blue error screen telling me something has been corrupted and I need to run defragmenter and a check disk system program.(if you want I can find the exact name of the program it told me to run). It then tells me to restart the computer.

When I do that, I just get sent right back to the section asking me how to start it and then right into the blue error screen.

So I exchanged the hard drive tower with an old PC(the one I am using) that barely runs and plugged the monitor into it. The monitor seems to be working fine suggesting the problem is with the hard drive.

Is there any way I can fix the hard drive so I can still use my good PC with all of my personal files?

I'm sorry my problem is so confusing, I'm a relative moron when it comes to computers so I have a difficult time explaining the problem.

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated

It sounds like the video card in your 'good' PC went out. Open the case (be sure the power cord is disconnected) and remove the video card. Then try booting up with monitor plugged into where you had it plugged in- the one you called the 'secondary monitor socket'. That should at least allow you to boot to your Windows desktop. So, give it a shot, and let us know what happens, and we'll proceed from there whether Windows loads up OK or not.

    Just an update-

I had to hook my corrupted harddrive up to my old harddrive and run CHKDSK that way.

So far that seems to have done the trick

Thanks for the help dave, I appreciate it
