My home DVD's play fine,no problem, but when I attempt to play a video or clips on line, such as news clips and videos from You Tube,my computer crashes. Sites don't seem to matter so I can't pin down where the problem is located.I've checked out Windows Media Player and there seems to be nothing wrong there.
I've run all my protection programs and everything comes up clean. I scaned for malware with Spy Doctor and sent the report to them. They said that someone would contact me if necessary. I have not heard from them,so I presume that it checked out clean. I have no other symptoms of viruses or malware, etc. Can someone help me find the problem? Thanks in advance.

It sounds like flash player is crashing your computer and this is what most sites use to play video with. May want to try and reinstall flash player. What type of crash is it just a lock up and then you have to restart?

You are probably correct about my problem being a flash player, but I still haven't solved my problem completely. I uninstilled Java and still have Adobe. I tried to download a clip from Yahoo and it took longer to crash and it only crashed Firefox, not the computer. I'm wondering if Firefox may be causing some problem? Sometimes it can't find a page and when I click to try again, it finds it most of the time. I have the latest version of Firefox. I may have to reinstall Adobe and check it out again. Thanks for the help.

Install the latest flash player from Adobe's website.

And you say firefox is the problem, I doubt it , try see if the same thing happens in Internet Explorer.

Also what speed internet do you have?

Thanks for your input. I use dial up which I realize is painfully slow, but this is the first time I've had these crashes. I'm optimistic since it now only crashes the browser and not the computer. Will try your advice about trying IE,although I don't care for it that much. Thanks again for your input.
