I´m relatively new to mg, so please bear with me. My problem is that when my screen turns off the cpu acts as if I had switced it off by pulling the plug out, so I have to remember to turn it off before the screen turns off or I lose everything. Its a DELL with windows 7 operating system

    Greetings, Mike Varey...

Take a look at your Control Panel > Power Options. Make sure the 'Balanced' plan is selected - you might even look at the 'Change settings' and click the 'Restore default settings...'. Ok out and see if there is a change in symptoms.

If not, try going back into Power Options and look for any advanced settings affecting the turning off of your hard disk.

Thank you, it appears to be sorted. I just extended the time out for the monitor, not very subtle I admit, but now it's useable at least. Thanks again,
    Mike.
