"you're better off just doing the steps in the read/run me first thread for malware.

then once it's cleaned up good, choose a better anti-virus."

Several months ago, I followed all of these steps, including adding Macafee anti virus, and Comodo Firewall. I run Advanced system care each day. Initially, my laptop (Toshiba/WinXP), worked fine. Now, I am having the same problems again with blue-screen crashes, as well as programs not responding each time I launch them, including Advance System Care, Mozilla Firefox, and Windows Mail. Is there something I can do to fix this?
    Thanks, PJ

    Hi

What Windows version are you running?

What are the BSOD codes you are getting? the codes do help narrow down the problem, have you also run the guide again, in case you are malware infected again?

Can you boot into Safe Mode (F8 at boot) and your apps work ok?

Halo, I do not know what a BSOD code is.
I am running XP and hating every minute of it.
I have not rerun the guide since November.
I have the same problem in safe mode
I saved my last ASC report- could this point to a problem?

    Hi

BSOD is Blue Screen Of Death as in the Blue Screen crashes you are seening.

I would re-run the guide in case it is malware, but do if you find malware start a new thread in the malware forum and attach the logs from the guide as requested.

What is an ASC report? do attach it following this guide HERE and maybe it will link to the problem.

    Halo,
Thank you for your help. I ran the guides and had no spyware or malware problems. The computer crashed after running root repeal and MG Tools. I have a network connection, but the computer does not recognize it. System restore failed, and I can operate only in safe mode.
I think I need to go back to the drawing board, uninstall all the tools I used, as well as any applications I installed in the past week.
    Thanks again for your help.
