Computer crashing when I leave

    Whenever I leave my computer with something running...ie defrag, or virus scan I come back and it has crashed. I have tried setting my screensaver to not come on, but still have the problem. I almost never have it crash when I am sitting in front of it...I think it knows when I leave. I run xp pro. I am guessing it has to be the screensaver or sleep mode or something...

    I am sorry, I couldnt resist and that was really lame :)

    My first though since you mentioned a virus scan or defrag is that both of those fully look at the surface of your hard drive, a lot of programs dont. So, I would make sure you clear out temporary files, do a spyware scan, then a complete scandisk to make sure there are no bad sectors. Also, are all programs closed and screensaver off? Screensaver should always be off during time consuming tasks like that, so you may be right to begin with.
