Hello, I'm looking for some help. I've searched for a solution, but frankly I've no idea how to resolve this. I run an Intel 5 with Windows 8 pre-installed. When I installed the latest update earlier tonight, it first disabled the keyboard, preventing me from typing in the password. After using a clicking password to get in, the computer was completely black except for a cursor. I even tried forced shut down to get DOS for a system restore and inserting the Dell disk for a factory reset, as an absolute last resort, but neither worked. Ctrl-Alt-Delete doesn't work either. Essentially the computer doesn't respond to any command after startup.

So we need to do something before the computer starts.

To restore did you press the right key (usually f10 f12) to boot from the Dell CD? It will tell you on the screen which key to hit.

Alternatively, you could hold f8 on restart and go to safe mode to remove the service packs you installed.
