So I don't have all of the specs on my computer but I do have a scenario to give. A few days ago I walked up to my computer which had been on for the past day. I moved the mouse to make it switch from standby to active. When i did this, my computer rebooted itself. When it start loading, the graphics were extremely messed up. So i rebooted it again but this time my monitor wasn't registering a connection. So i turned my computer off and touched the graphics card and as i expected, it was very hot. (everytime i touched the computer i made sure to ground myself first)

My window had been opened and it was a little warm in my room...but nothing too serious. The case to my computer was open for the past month because I had been testing my rams because for some reason having 4x1gb rams in my computer kept causing random reboots every once in awhile. So i was testing them 1 at a time to see if it was my ram or maybe 1 of the extra ram slots was messed up so i kept the case open so i could access it quicker. (I just hope a bug didnt go in and cause a short now that i think about it)

I gave the card some time to cool off as well as spraying my case with canned air (didn't see any bugs fly out unless they melted somewhere o_O ). When I came back to try again, it was the same old story. It powered on but no images on monitor. I rebooted 1 or 2 times more to make sure. Initially it sounded like the computer was displaying an error screen b4 booting (probably the improperly shutdown screen) but eventually i just left it going and you could hear it loaded fully into windows fine. So unplugging and powering off my computer, I reseated the graphics card and tried again. Nothing new, but i noticed that my graphics card was getting pretty hot again. I left it to cool for awhile again. I came back, reseated the graphics card again and changed the 1gb of ram that i had in there with one of the rams I had already tested and knew worked (the one i had been testing had been in there a good 2 weeks so i doubt its problematic). This time when I pressed the power button, I saw the powersupply emit a blue light from its LED that it usually has on while powered on, but it only blinked once for a split second and turned off. No noise. No power. No burning smells. I pressed it again but this time no reaction at all. Pressed it 2 or 3 more times...same thing.(yes i replugged it in already) I let it sit for awhile and came back later and pressed the power and this time it reacted like b4. Blue LED comes on for literally a split second and turns off. Any attempts after that followed the same pattern..no results.....wait awhile and try again..blue LED flash...more tries..no response. I tried swapping the rams back again and trying but with the same results...

Just how screwed is my computer? What do you think is screwed? Mobo? Power? Graphics?

The first thing i tried was swapping out my graphics card. The new graphics card worked fine. I plugged my old one back in...didn't work. Plugged the new one back in...it worked...plugged the old one back in but this time realized i needed to supply power to it (because i forgot the first time)...it turned on....i got excited...2 seconds later one of the diodes caught on fire...i held power button down..it didn't power off...i grabbed power cord and pulled it out...plugged other graphics card in..it worked

    yea...had a bad graphics card
