Computer fan making noise

Hi everybody,

I have an Acer computer with Vista on it. It is about 18 months old. Recently, I did all the cleaning you suggest in the beggining and managed to get rid of a worm. I was very satisfied with your tricks and suggestions.

However, my computer fan (I think it's the fan) is making a funny noise on and off, like the fan is trying to run against something and is having trouble doing so. Like something is holding it back and the fan fighting to keep running.

When it does this, the computer runs very slowly, I have to wait and wait for pages to open or close.

I had this kind of noise on a former computer and the tech said at the time that the hard drive was about to bust. So I am worried about this noise.

I try to clean everything frequently, registries, temp files,defragment, all I can to help the computer run better but it does not seem to help.

Anybody can suggest to do anything to fix this?

Open up your tower and see if the fan is caught on anything.

 

Also ensure that it is fully seated in its mount. If not fully seated, the CPU may not get all the air it needs and could get hot,causing your slowdown.

 

It is most likely that your laptop or PC fan is being blocked by something, most likely dust, which is possible if you have had the computer for 18 months. Removing the dust should help the fan run smoothly and reduce any noise.
