So i have an hp desktop that keeps flashing red and beeping when its turned on.

According to the hp website it says that the number of beeps i am getting is due to something being wrong with the psu.

However the pc still starts sometimes after about doing a sessions of 4 beeps ( each session being 4 beeps each= 16 beeps orso).

I ran tests through a software to see if anything was overheating and the temperatures seem relatively good or cool, my the cpu is actually at 15C.

What is a normal temperature for a HD? I am getting around 50 C but then again its been hot lately so i assume that's somewhat normal.

I took already reseated the ram and it still beeped. I tried running the memtest software but somehow the pc won't let me boot via usb. Every time i tried to boot via usb it went to the operating system, and when i disabled every boot option other than usb it just gave me an error with no hard disk installed.

The usb ports do work just fine it would help if i could run the memtest software though.

One thing i noticed is if i leave the power cord plugged into the desktop and do a full shut down it seems to turn on fine without any beeps. However when i disconnect the power from it and leave it unplugged for 12~ hrs it does give me does annoying beeps before starting.

The computer seems to work fine otherwise but , could it be quite possibly that it isn't the power supply and maybe its something else?

I would go with a PSU problem too. I had an old PC with the same problem. After I replaced the PSU, I opened up the case and found several bulging capacitors. As for the memtest, why not use a CD?

When you state you opened up the ''case'' do you mean the one in where the PSU is enclosed in?

Because the caps look good in the motherboard: no bulging, swelling on top or any signs of leaking ( usually oxidation on the top).

Yes, the PSU. They don't last forever.

So how bad does this look?

I opened up the psu unit and i found 1 capacitor which appears to be leaking. One of the batteries look a little oily too. I can't tell if the blue capacitors look swollen though

I did find some bent and twisted small capacitors by the back but unsure if they are supposed to be like that
