    Hey everyone!

Here's my situation: Until recently I only had one 7900 GTX Video card, and my computer was running GREAT with games, programs, movies... Everything. Then: I installed another 7900 GTX and configured them for SLI. The SLI was running no problem and my 3dmark06 score went from the high 5000's to the high 7000's. But now I can't play any games for more than 10 minutes without them freezing. Call of Duty 2 will run for about 10 seconds and freeze. Battlefield 2 however will run for about 10 minutes and then freeze for about 50 seconds, and then start working again... same with Quake 4. The video quality settings don't appear to have any affect on the game crashing. I am currently in the process of reinstalling windows. Does anyone have any thoughts of what drivers I should install? Or if there is any other problems that you can think of that might be causing this.

    Thanks for any help!

could be that COD2, BF2, quake 4 are not properly configured for SLI?? maybe theres a patch out there that enables the games to work properly with SLI.....

ooo another thing....it might also be cooling....not enough cooling going around. the reason why i say this is that i have a similar problem to you. i have a athlon xp 3200+ with nvidia gf 6600gt. in SWAT 4 and F.E.A.R the games will work for a few minutes then crash. Half-Life 2 on the other hand works ok.

I had a problem with games freezing for quite a long period of time, I installed SP2 and it seemed to fix it, so if you don't have SP2 it's worth a go.

prakz: Yeah, I was also wondering about the cooling prblem. My north bridge gets pretty hot, i think that it's idling at 45 celcius, the cpu however hasnt gone over 39 degrees celcius yet. And CoD is redy for sli, im sure quake 4 has to be, but even FEAR froze up during gameplay.

shinobi: yeah, I have sp2 in.. thanks though.

does anyone know if this could be an sli driver issue? what drivers should i be using?

I just got off of the phone with BFG Tech and I guess that my problem is the power supply. I have an Ultra X2 Power supply with a 12v rail amperage of 18A. They said that the 12v rail has to have atleast 32 amps to power 2 BFG 7900 GTX Video cards... Guess I'm gonna need a new power supply.

in that case ian, i suggest the Seasonic S12-600. its sli certified.

prankz, about five minutes before I saw that you posted the PSU suggestion, I was on slizone.com and was looking at dual 7900 gtx certified power supplies and ended up purchasing the SILVERSTONE|SST-ST56ZF 560W PSU.
It has 36 amps running across the 12v rail, so this should definitely be sufficient. Thanks though! The only thing that I don't like about the one that I just bought, is that all of the cables are pre-attatched, I like how mine looks right now, only the cables that I NEED are installed. Oh well, I guess im going to have to sacrifice some of my "case image" for power. Well, It's not like my computer has got ladies lined up to see me anyways, so I guess I shouldnt really care.

Im confused:confused: Why would someone need 2x7900GTX 512mb card? There is no game in the world for the next year or two that needs more then 512,am I wrong?

Anyways get the powersupply BFG recommended and try it out.Do the games still crash if you only use one card?

pranks: will do. Just bought some wrap and astuff from frozencpu.com

sewy18: There are a couple 'a games: Quake 4, F.E.A.R., CoD 2 (they don't NEED over 512 per say, but they do work best with 1GB!), oh yeah and Super Mario Brothers (the original). haha... Actually, I called BFG and the recommended the Thermaltake w0099 which is an optical drive dedicated to power the sli cards, BUT, these psu's haven't been released yet. So, I went to SLIzone.com, and the recommended the one that i bought (SILVERSTONE|SST-ST56ZF 560W PSU).

(sorry for mispellings, i had an incident with a table-saw about 4 hours ago.)
